Position Overview | Technical Service: Electronics Technician
The Electronics Technician is a senior-level technical specialist responsible for advanced board-level
troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) components across audio, signal
processing, and control platforms. This role includes serving as a technical leader and mentor within the
department, providing guidance to junior technicians and helping shape best practices in repair operations.
The ideal candidate demonstrates mastery in all facets of electronic repair, RF principles, and equipment
usage while ensuring efficient, quality-driven outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Lead and oversee the execution of comprehensive test and repair plans for electronic systems and
assemblies.
● Perform expert-level fault isolation and component replacement on high-density SMT boards and
multi-layer PCBs.
● Interpret and analyze complex schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation with
precision.
● Act as a primary resource for advanced analog, digital, and mixed-signal theory applications in
troubleshooting and repair.
● Provide subject-matter expertise on RF systems and guide diagnostic procedures related to radio-
frequency performance.
● Serve as an instructor-level user of diagnostic tools and test setups; provide training and coaching to
junior technicians.
● Champion best practices in soldering/rework for both SMT and through-hole technologies, including
micro and fine-pitch components.
● Develop, implement, and refine troubleshooting methodologies and root cause analysis procedures for
recurring technical issues.
● Lead the use of structured data capture and analysis through spreadsheets, maintenance software, and
tracking systems.
● Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to inform design feedback and
improve repair workflows.
● Ensure strict adherence to ESD safety, quality control, and process compliance standards.
● Understand the operation of the SMT line and provide support when necessary.

processes.
● Contributes to the development and revision of SOPs, technical documentation, and maintenance
protocols.
● Excellent communication skills for technical reporting, cross-functional coordination, and team
development.
Minimum Qualifications:
● High School Diploma or GED (required)
● Technical degree, military electronics training, or equivalent certification (preferred)
● Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in SMT-level diagnostics and component-level repair
● Demonstrated instructor-level proficiency in the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, and advanced
electronic test tools
● Proven ability to lead teams, train staff, and support cross-departmental collaboration
● Strong documentation skills and experience with spreadsheet-based reporting and asset management
systems
● Deep understanding of ESD safety protocols and adherence to electronic repair industry
