Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for leading supplier negotiations and preparation of contracts, including annual contract renewals (Call Orders, etc).
  2. Responsible for completing tasks in accordance with project timelines and providing detailed updates in Project meetings.
  3. Buyer is accountable for all project purchasing activities including supplier qualification, negotiations and supplier selection.
  4. Buyer will support Global Purchasing Suppliers and align with Purchasing Manager and team at the earliest phases of project to determine purchasing strategy (global, local-for-local, etc.)
  5. Responsible for visiting suppliers to build thorough knowledge for their processes and foster relationship building.
  6. Coordinates with Supplier Development to closely monitor and develop new suppliers.
  7. Responsible for issuing RFQs to suppliers, conducting analysis on supplier quotes and competitively sourcing lowest delivered total cost with rationale for prototype and serial production parts.
  8. Place Purchase Orders for the purchase of components, materials, and invests.
  9. Negotiate long term strategic sourcing agreements with suppliers.
  10. Serve as a liaison between Suppliers and RAPA Customers.
  11. Facilitates continuous improvement and VA/VE workshops with suppliers to improve efficiency and reduce costs for new projects.
  12. Facilitates technical review of components with suppliers and R&D to finalize technical requirements.
  13. Organize, update and retain product information files and all purchasing related records.
  14. Responsible for researching and identifying potential new suppliers and facilitating supplier approval process.
  15. Carefully monitors cost status of each component and consistently negotiates with supply base to stabilize costs.
  16. Authorize purchase orders up to $5,000.
  17. Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Education and Experience 
  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferably in engineering, business or related discipline (technical aptitude desirable)
  2. Purchasing experience of at least 1 year, preferably in automotive manufacturing, or related experience.
  3. International sourcing experience.
  4. Strong negotiation skills (cost increase avoidance, long term agreements and contracts).
  5. Proven cost reduction, continuous improvement & VA/VE experience.
  6. Professional experience within a global organization, preferably within the automotive industry.
  7. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  8. Common business practices relating to the purchase, pricing, terms, shipment, taxes, and payment of commodities.
  9. Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and handle multiple projects and assignments with proficiency.
  10. Ability to travel as required up-to 25%.
