AUBURN, Ala.- Made in Alabama released its 2023 Alabama New & Expanding Industry Report this week, showing Lee County as the top county in Alabama for capital investment and job creation, with a capital investment of $689 million and 1,251 new jobs created.

Statewide, companies that located or expanded in 2023 “are poised to make investments totaling over $6.4 billion,” according to an announcement from Governor Kay Ivey. The report includes key takeaways including new jobs in key industrial sectors — such as automotive — along with investment in rural areas and the economic boost provided by the location of foreign industries.

The City of Auburn’s contribution to Lee County’s success includes one new industry location and seven industry expansions covering industrial sectors from automotive to soft drinks, plastics and fabricated metal product manufacturing.

“We’ve had a long-term strategy in Auburn of recruiting a diversified industrial base built around small- to medium-sized, technology-based, value-added manufacturing companies,” said Auburn Mayor Ron Anders. “This has allowed consistent, annual industry locations and expansions bringing well-paying jobs and economic stability over time.”

Industries housed in Auburn’s four technology parks currently employ approximately 5,000 people.

“Lee County is the home of some great communities, and we’re proud to stand with them as we each play a role in this success story,” Anders said.Lee County leads state in capital investment
