The Career Center Specialist is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities within the Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers (GoodwillSR) career center with the focus of assisting and providing resources to individuals who are unemployed or underemployed. The Career Center Specialist has excellent verbal and written communication skills and has the ability to quickly and effectively develop a rapport with a wide variety of audiences. Responsibilities include aiding individuals with resources available in the career center and community, setting up class schedules, and implementing initiatives that are designed to positively impact and enhance the job search and employability skills of career center clients. Essential functions include: Greet and engage visitors and callers professionally and warmly. Perform general reception services, including answering telephones and taking messages; Coordinate the production and distribution of MailChimp emails and maintain contact list; Obtain client information and track it appropriately in the organization’s client management system; Maintain familiarity with the resources that the career center provides as well as community resources; Assist clients with using the career center’s resources; answer questions and give appropriate guidance; Support opportunities to market and promote Career Center services to local employers, social service agencies and government entities; Coordinate and/or contribute to the career center’s services, events, and programs; Contribute to the development and facilitation of Career Center orientation and classes; Assist in scheduling of classes, setting up internal interviews, and reserving training and interview rooms; Refer clients to other Goodwill SR programs and partner resources as appropriate; Assist with data entry to add information to the client management system for client contact, retention calls, class attendance, etc.; Perform filing, photocopying, mass mailings and other related activities; Conduct telephone surveys, retention phone calls, and client outreach calls; Work collectively with the center’s other team members to advertise and promote job openings, financial services, and more to clients; Ensure safe operations of equipment and facility by following and communicating safety standards; Actively participate in work groups as assigned.
