Product Engineer

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 This position is responsible for researching and developing ideas and processes for new products. Improves
upon the performance and design of existing products.
 Design, model, and test prototypes for products.
 Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
 Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases, elements and reviewing bids from
contractors.
 Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance
standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
 Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
 Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements;
sequencing project elements.
 Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
 Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending
actions.
 Controls project costs by approving expenditures.
 Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends;
recommending actions.
 Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
 Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Establish design briefs.
 Produce final drawings and specifications.
 Create parts lists.
 Make samples of working models for demonstration.
 Improve usability of an item.
 Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education and Experience

 Product engineering/design experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is preferred.
 Bachelors in relevant engineering field. Masters preferred.
 Technical/mechanical aptitude with mechatronics experience and basic knowledge of technical drawings is
preferred.
 Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) to design concepts and simulation software for structure,
system, magnetic circuit or flow simulation is preferred.
 Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
 Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and handle multiple projects and
assignments with proficiency.
 Management experience is not required.
 Ability to travel as required up to 15%.
